Right to Information (GIPA)
On July 1 2010, the new Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 (GIPA Act) replaced the Freedom of Information Act 1989 (NSW).
Under the new law, state and local government agencies will be able to release more information to the public.
The GIPA Act applies to all NSW Government agencies, including local councils, state-owned corporations, ministers and their staff.
